My favorite week of the year....gingerbread inferencing!! What?! Are you wondering why this is my favorite week of the year? BECAUSE IT IS SO.MUCH.FUN!!! We started the week reading different variations of the gingerbread boy stories! We created our class gingerbread man, and voted on the name "Ginger". Then, the drama started!! We came to school Wednesday to find CAUTION tape all around our room and our gingerbread man was missing!! And so we started using our inferencing skills with the evidence and clues we were given to find our missing friend! We made our initial suspect list (I'm only a little offended I was at the top of the list!) and then narrowed it down based on new clues each day! Several of our own girls were on the suspect list, so it was good to have a handprint as evidence so we could clear their names! Finally, after putting our last clue (a picture puzzle) together, we were able to find our suspect...Mrs. Margocs!! We brainstormed a plan for how to ask for him back...Using nice words & manners were at the top of the list! It probably didn't hurt that we traded her some real gingerbread man cookies! The students were the best little detectives and I am happy to report that "Ginger" is safely back in our room!
