As the semester came to a close, so did our Kindergarten PBL about family. The students spent several weeks researching, interviewing, comparing, discussing and creating for their "Family Matters" projects. We learned so much with this project!! Our math unit focused on graphing and students learned to collect data, create graphs, and analyze the data to answer questions. We did several writing topics in which students shared stories about their family's holiday celebrations, traditional clothing and food, and so much more! The most important thing that we took away from this is that our families are so beautifully different, each with their own special tradition or celebration. It was so neat to hear 5 and 6 year olds comparing Diwali and Christmas and appreciating the differences in each other's families. If only the rest of the world could do the same and learn to appreciate the uniqueness that we all bring to this big, wide world! I could not be more proud of the hard work that my students put forth for this project! View the slideshow below and see all of the hard work that these kiddos put into this project!
